About Us

If you have arrived at this page without making navigation error somewhere along the way, then there is a strong likelihood that you are an animal lover. So, on behalf of the staff and the board and all the volunteers of our caring community, I want to welcome you and hope that we can be some measure of benefit in your life.

The Portage Animal Protective League is a non-profit organization, dedicated to the care and welfare of the abused, abandoned, sick and injured dogs and cats that come through our doors. More than 1000 such animals come to us each year and, unfortunately, many more cannot be accommodated until space becomes available.

All of our efforts to help are funded through donations. We receive no help from government sources. We must, and do, charge adoption fees to partially offset operating costs which include some required immunizations for the animals.

Many of your questions may be answered by clicking on Frequently Asked Questions. (Insert link) But feel free to call us, or better yet, come out to the shelter (click for map showing location) (insert link) and meet us in person.

We are proud of our efforts to serve the community and we would love to help put a beautiful companion into your caring heart.

Thank you for visiting our site!
